Hello and welcome to your personal online journal.

This platform has been created to enhance and enrich your learning at the London Nautical School. Its purpose is to provide you with an audience for your work (or work-in-progress) and you have the choice (by altering the ‘visibility’ of your posts) of whether your work on here is visible to the world, or only to your teacher.

Anything you post here in the public domain represents you and thus it’s important that you take care with that decision, but don’t be afraid to publish your work – as the feedback you may get from people at home, your peers and people from around the internet is only likely to enhance it.

Remember you can always access your class blog and all manner of resources through the Edutronic.net main website – and by all means check out the sites of your peers to see what they’re getting up to as well.

If you have any questions for me, an excellent way to get an answer is to create a new private post on this journal. I am notified of any new posts and will reply swiftly to any queries.

Make the most of, and enjoy this new freedom in your English learning.

Mr Waugh

My name is Alex Colgan and this is the story of how I died.
I am 19 years old and I have a girlfriend and a child. Alice, my girlfriend and I are both children of god. Meaning like other children in this world in the year 3099 we were not produced through a test tube. All through school I was a freak an alien, but how could they talk they came from a tube. I noticed as I grew up things got easier. Maybe it was because my parents put me into a private school of children just from god. This was when I was 13. I was not like others it was found I was a hell lot smarter. I got all a stars in my GCSEs and then just B’s in A Levels this was when things started to go wrong. Aged 16 I was all set up to start my fulfilling and joyful life. I went to interview after interview no luck now all they have to do is test your piss yes for well done you got the job no for hard luck I went to about 20 odd all said NO I could have done any thing but they jobs did not want a child of god they wanted someone more natural and what could be more natural than a tube of gel. By this stage it was no longer what I wanted to do, I was no longer interested in jobs.
I had got a nice group of friends by this time 7 of us. We 7 grew up together. Some smart some not so smart. The first tragedy happened when Victor who could multiply anything in his head in a instant went mad killed his family then shot him self 9 times. The rest of us were shocked but put I behind us. Aged nearly, 18 now I had never let a drop of alcohol pass my lips. Unlike Harry, Max and Luke who started from an early age. I thought it to be horrible and disgusting. But when I was asked to go to a club called 7 Heaven the best most exclusive club in the city I didn’t refuse. The bright neon lights dazzled me as we entered a mystery world before us. Blue, green, purple, orange, red and yellow, a rainbow of different colours flashing and lazers my idea of hell. Am persuaded into having a beer I drink it I like it, its cool and nice the bobbles fizz in my mouth I notice a girl she wants me to dance I shake my head my friends get me another drink and another and another by the forth I am ready to dance. We kiss and then it gets better she’s 18 and looking for a relationship anyway 9 months later we have our first child and are engaged.
I have still been drinking but just the odd beer, but my girlfriend is very protective of me. But my friends manage to get me to come out we said it was the stag do. (The first of many…) My friends say the beers we had at 7 heaven where not very strong so we get shots. We had 5 each the taste somewhat weird. It reminded me of nail polish remover. We get into a blue mini bus which gets us to a strip of clubs along the beach. We go to one place and had one whole fish bole each. Sea blue in colour, with straws and sparkly things in it. We move on 2 beers each I get that same sensation. By now its only Harry, Luke, Max and I left. Unfortunately Max finds out Harry’s been sleeping with his girlfriend and their unborn baby is Harry’s. This develops into a drunken fight. Punching, kicking and red blood a knife shining in the moon light. The wailing of sirens, and a pool of blood around Harry. Luke and I guess that Max will be seeing his unborn son through bars.
After this tragedy we just want to drink our troubles away, so we go back to Luke’s. We drink and drink bubbles fizz, bottles pop open and smoke raises up. Smash the sound of the 9th bottle of vodka smashing to the floor. We both fall to the floor at the same time with a thud. The next morning Luke wakes with tattoos all over his face and persings. He looks over at me, a monkey pissing on my face. I lay there still and unmoving no sign of life. Luke laughs and says something so rude I dare not say it, but he stands wobbles and then collapses into a big pile of cow dung. An hour later he is submitted to hospital they say he’s gone to a mental hospital by the end. I lay they gather up my urine sample from inside me. They told my family that the cause of death was from the fact of there being… more vodka in my piss than there was piss.

Welcome, Angus!

Welcome to your new English Journal.

This site has been created for you to allow a more modern and dynamic way for you to approach your work in English. It is set to “Private” so the only people who have the ability to read what you write here are you, me (Mr Waugh, your teacher) and Dr Ovenden (the Head of English).

Whenever you create an entry on this journal, I am notified. I am then able to comment on what you write – and thus provide you with individual feedback for your work. You can freely access this journal from any computer or mobile device that is connected to the internet.

I will also use this journal as a place to keep all the official information that is relevant to your learning this year – including feedback on your assessments and your current and predicted grades.

For detailed information on your class work and an archive of the hand-outs and resource material you get in class, you can access the Nautical 10 website anytime. Unlike this journal, the class website is public and accessible by anyone.

I hope you find this journal useful – but if it is not for you, the more traditional mechanism of using your book for all work is still available to you. The choice is yours.
